Business team Update:
This team is being led by myself and is planning an investment conference in July of 2012. This conference will ne held in Houston and will focus on investment opportunity for US companies to invest in Pakistan. However, there will be focus on three investment areas; Energy (renewable and non-renewable), Infrastructure (including low cost housing) and Health care. There will be several key note speakers including participation by Overseas Private Investment corporation (OPIC) and Board of Investment (BOI) from Pakistan. This conference will highlight the key areas for small and large US businesses and financing opportunities for US companies to invest in Pakistan. I will continue to highlight the progress in this area in my monthly updates.

Marketing Team:

This team is being led by Mr. Zaki Mirza and is focused on increasing reserves and membership base of the Chamber. Within the team the responsibility of membership has been assigned to Chair membership, Mr. Nasir Abbasi.

To build reserves, key focus till May end will be in getting advertisements for Pakistan Chamber Business Pages from the businesses in Houston. Great progress is being made in this area by Mr. Zaki Mirza and Mrs. Nargis Ahmed. It is expected that we will publish these business pages by the end of June 2012. To increase membership, Mr. Nasir Abbasi will be launching a marketing campaign soon through media and personal contacts. The membership challenge requires aggressive marketing and we hope to see some results in the near future.

Seminar Team: 
This team is being led by Mr. Pervez Iqbal. Chair membership Mr. Javed Iqbal is a key member of this team and has presented several ideas for seminars in 2012. It is expected that we will have our first seminar of 2012 in April.

I am always open to ideas, suggestions and help in meeting our defined goals in 2012. My Executive Board is focused on serving the Pakistani American community as well as providing networking opportunities to increase Trade & Investment opportunities between  Pakistan & USA. I would encourage all members to participate in our activities. If you will like to play an active role in any of the working teams, please let me know.

Five chairs were appointed by the President and unanimously approved by the elected board members. Following Chairs were appointed:
1) Business Development – Mr. Mohammad Mukhtar
2) Membership – Mr. Nasir Abbasi
3) Seminars – Mr. Javed Iqbal
4) Pakistan-USA relationship – Mr. Steve Stockman
5) Constitution – Mr. Rashid Khokhar

There are three key activities planned for 2012. These are:
- Increase membership to 1000 and build reserves to $100k for Chamber secretariat. Markething team has been created and will be led by VP marketing Mr. Zaki Mirza
- Investment forums and trade delegation to Pakistan. Business team has been created and will be led by the President Mr. Waseem Rahim
- Seminars (2-3) in 2012. This team will be led by our senior VP Mr. Pervez Iqbal

Soon I will be meeting with the Chairman of advisory council (Mr. Zubair Ashraf) and President of Past Presidents Council (Mr. PJ Swati) to review the key activities of the Chamber in 2012 and get committment from these presitigious bodies to help us meet our goals in 2012.

I am always open to ideas, suggestions and help meet our defined goals in 2012. We need to broaden the breadth of this organization and try and make it more main stream. I believe the best way to help Pakistani-American community and increase trade between Pakistan & USA is to have an increased paid membership from American mainstream.
